I was the tour guide for today’s Beyond Books tour at the library. It was a great tour. We had about 7 guests who shared an hour of their time with me and my coworkers and heard a bunch of inspirational stories about the impact our work makes on the Greenwood community.
The tour was so nice because I could tell this group really understood what we are trying to do at the library. Greenwood Public Library is so much more than just books. We are all about empowering, enriching, and educating those in our community and helping them on their life journeys.
After the tour I was able to meet with a representative from University of Indianapolis about their internship program. The library is such a natural fit for a service minded school such as UIndy. I am very excited about the types of services and programs we could bring to the implementation stage at the library with the help of interns from UIndy in the coming years. So many possibilities. There is a lot of work that will have to be invested in the program to make it a mutually beneficial experience for both the students and the library, but it has the potential to be very rewarding at the same time.
Great day, overall. Very uplifting and inspiring.
